Dr. Omar A. Khan received his M.D. from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed his adult psychiatry residency training at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. His training included clinical experience within the private, public, university, state, and federal systems (NYU Langone Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, NYU Counseling and Wellness Center, the Manhattan VA Medical Center, Manhattan Psychiatric Center and Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, respectively). He served as Chief Resident in Education where he developed a course for third-year residents aimed at examining the history of psychiatry and assumptions in contemporary practice. He additionally introduced interdisciplinary efforts to help doctors in other fields increase their understanding and curiosity for the psychological experience of being ill or hospitalized for their patients.  He later stayed at NYU to complete his training in Consultation-Liaison psychiatry at the interface between medical illness, ethics and psychiatry. 

Upon completion of his fellowship training, Dr. Khan began working exclusively in the outpatient setting, with a focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychopharmacological treatments. Grounded in a belief that an effective psychiatrist requires lifelong learning and introspection, he is currently enrolled as a 2nd year candidate in Adult Psychoanalysis at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. He currently serves as a Clinical Professor and Attending Psychiatrist at the Weill Cornell Physicians Organization, as psychiatrist for the Weill Cornell House Staff Mental Health Program, and as voluntary faculty at NYU Langone where he directs a course for third year residents on Personality Organization and Structure, in addition to providing individual clinical supervision.
